M. Ellouise Huffaker, 74 of Nevada died on Wednesday, April 4, 2012 at the Story County Medical Center in Nevada. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 9 at the Memorial Lutheran Church, 701 11th Street in Nevada with Pastor Myron Herzberg officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery, Collins.
Ellouise was born on September 16, 1937 in Des Moines to Harold L. and Gladis A. (Johnson) Riley. She was a 1955 graduate of Des Moines Tech High School. On October 22, 1955, Ellouise was united in marriage to Kenneth M. Huffaker in Trenton, MO. She was co-owner of Nevada Monument Company until Ken and her retirement in 2004. Ellouise was a member of the Nevada Order of the Eastern Star, Nevada American Legion Auxiliary and past president of the Iowa Monument Builders Association. She was the true definition of a mother and her greatest joys were spending time with her family and attending her grandchildren's activities. Ellouise also enjoyed crocheting, quilting, sewing, flower and vegetable gardening, casino visits, and attending monument conventions.
Ellouise is survived by her husband Kenneth Huffaker; daughter Kendra (Steven) McCauley; son Ed Huffaker, all of Nevada; seven grandchildren Jes McCauley of Des Moines, Brandon McCauley of West Des Moines, Aimee McCauley of Nevada, Samantha (Brian) Harleen of Madrid, Brady, Nick, and Brooke Huffaker of Story City.
Ellouise was preceded in death by her parents, a son David Lowell Huffaker in 1983, two brothers, Earl Riley and Robert Riley.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
A memorial fund has been established in loving memory of Ellouise.
